OUR TEAM
A team of professionals from different areas of the
academic, publishing and business sectors created Alumira. We are a multidisciplinary team, experts and
passionate about our work, which faces projects as challenges and opportunities
to meet our client’s objectives.
We are based in Oporto, Portugal, where we develop
different projects for other places in Europe and Latin America.
DAN CERMAK
Dan Cermak has over 30 years of experience in the
video game industry, teaching Video Game Design and Production classes as part
of the Informatics department. In addition, he co-taught a VR/AR class in
CS and has been a part of the university since the spring of 2018. Before
teaching, Dan spent nearly 15 years with Volition, a Champaign Illinois video
game studio known for creating high-quality console and PC video games such as
the Saints Row series. Dan joined Volition in 2003 as Vice President of
Production and served as General Manager for six years before leaving in 2017. In
addition, he actively supports the development of various on-campus educational
experiences in his role as Game Studies Coordinator.
YASMIN ALHILI
Yasmin is best known for
pioneering Middle Eastern Sport. She is the first Woman in the Arabian Gulf to
compete both as a co-driver and driver in the FIA Middle East Rally
Championship, knocking down barriers in a male-dominated field. Other
pioneering achievements for Arab women include her appointment as Acting
General Director of the Riffa Club of Bahrain, where she headed the
administrative side of a Football Club and led the Investment and Marketing
Committee. Yasmin also obtained a license from FIFA Player Agent and is the first Arab woman to do so and has
held consulting roles alongside male peers in Sports Clubs globally. She is a
biological anthropologist, polyglot, and has worked in business development in
numerous areas, from stocks and bonds, to real estate, to innovation and
technology, and has been sitting in various directions in the Middle East.
RENSE LANGE
Rense, born in the Netherlands, he studied psychology
at the University of Groningen before earning his M.Sc. in computer science and
Ph.D. in psychology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA,
where he taught in both areas for eight years. He is currently the Director of
the Laboratory for Statistics and Computation at ISLA-Gaia. He has worked
extensively as a leading psychometrician in Educational Assessment and was
responsible for the robustness of the annual testing of 1.5 million Illinois
students. He is (co-) the author of over 100 articles and books in the areas of
artificial intelligence, education, psychology, and psychometrics.
ALBERTO MUÑOZ CÉSPEDES
Alberto is author, editor and promoter of books and
cultural and educational projects for over 25 years, with a degree in History
and Geography, specializing in Contemporary History, Post-Graduation in
Strategic Business Management, Specialist in Management of Social Economy Institutions,
and researcher at the Center of Innovation in Social Sciences (ISLA-Universidad
Lusófona, Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal). He was CEO of Santillana Editores in
Portugal for 20 years.
CARLOS SÁNCHEZ CERÓN
Carlos is Master's degree in Economics and
postgraduate studies in Finance.
He has held the positions of Deputy Director of
Monetary and Credit Programming at the SHCP, Director of Financial Analysis at
Banco Mexicano Somex, and Corporate Director of Risk Control at Grupo
Asemex-Banpaís. Director of Risk Control at Grupo Asemex-Banpaís and Consulting
Partner of GEA (Grupo de Economistas y Asociados).
YOCHANAN MORAN
Yochanan Moran is a graduate of the University of
Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, in the fields of statistics and computation,
specializing in modeling scientific processes. He is one of the intellectual
heirs of William Stout and is a member of the research center at ISLA-Gaia «Laboratory
for Statistics and Computation.
